I have waited 12 days of use before posting this review. First, I have a 5 month old rottie who is "highly spirited". She has been the naughtiest girl since we brought her home 3 months ago. She will run up and bite your butt. She will poop and pee in her crate if you leave for more than 2 min. She is up at 11pm, 2am and ready for the day at 5 am. I was at wits end with her. Short of getting puppy valium, I wanted to try a natural alternative.The first month, I thought she was being spiteful. I would take her out to do her business and be outside for 1/2 hour. As soon as I brought her in and would leave the toom for 30 seconds, she would either poo, pee or both. Spiteful. But as she hit 4 months old, I started looking for any advice. What I found was seperation anxiety would cause this behavior. I found CPFK and another popular brand. CPFK had higher likelihood of working based on a comparison of reviews. All I can say is I am SO HAPPY we tried this product.For my high strung girl, it was not an hour and I saw results as some suggested. But over the first 48 hours, I saw subtle changes where her aggression was not as bad. I am so happy to report, she has not pooped or peed in her cage for the past 12 days, even when we left the house for 45 minutes to go to the store. This was HUGE! Then, at the one week mark, she actually slept through the night! 9pm she is out like a light and does not get up until 5-5:30. So, yes, I would recommend this product.As for the calming collar itself, it's has a lavender/camomile scent. I have given her a bath with it attached on day 2 and the scent did not get weaker. It is a one size fits all and you have to trim. The other brand was sm/med or Lrg. Since she is a rottie, I appreciate having the opportunity to grow into the collar during this rapid growth cycle. The downside is that it does not necessarily "lock" in place and will loosen up when she is being a puppy and shaking her toys like a typical rottie. This is not a problem and can be easily tightened up. Technically, this is the only downside I have found. Another reason I chose this collar over the other brand was the other brand required to be tight and touching the skin, where CPFK suggests being able to have 2 fingers between the collar and the neck. This was important distinction for me.I am including a picture and you can see she is able to wear both the calming collar (grey) and her everyday collar (red) together.I got the CPFK calming collar as a tool to help stop the poop and pee. I ended up getting more rewards of having a well adjusted girl. Puppy class is helping with the biting but I truly believe this collar is helping her concentrate when we do our daily practice/training.My last tidbit is this is not a cure but a helpful tool. If you think you are going to put on a collar and automatically have the best baby, you are setting yourself for failure. If you look at this as a tool to help your baby go into a calmer/self-soothing state, then you are going to have success.I have been recommending this collar for about a year or so. It was doing a wonderful job with fearful and reactive, and overly-aroused dogs. HOWEVER, just within the last month, my clients are complaining the collar is CAUSING A RASH ON THE DOG'S NECK!! Also, the scent of the collar has increased much too much! I am hugely disappointed because otherwise, without these issues, I would have given it a 5 or even 6 star rating :-(Smell is VERY strong. Like, eye watering strong if my small pup gets up on me. I’m hoping it will wear down quickly to a manageable level in the first day or so.I will come back in a few days and update.3rd day update: smell is still stronger than I would like but is better.I don't know if its the smell in general he doesn't like, or the pheromones at work, but my pup actually seems to have MORE anxiety. He is now very clingy and needy, but he isn't barking at random stuff through the window like before. Haven't decided which is worse for him (I don't mind giving him extra attention if that's all he needs, but I'm not sure if maybe there is more of a physical reaction to the collar or he just doesn't like it).This product may actually work! When I first opened the package I was a little skeptical because of the scent. It is pretty overwhelming and knowing a dog sense of smell is many times more powerful than ours, I knew it could be a problem. After putting it on my dogs neck, he tried rubbing it on the ground and turning round and round to see where that smell was coming from. I could not hold our dog because the smell was too strong for me. Our dog is a 23 pound Malti-Poo Shih Tzu mix and he is three years old. We thought we would try the pheromone collar to see if we could help with his mood. You see, we went out and got aDachshund puppy and my older dog has not been the same ever since. At the urging of a vet, we thought we would try this product. There are many out there and I did not want to try the room atomizer type because I did not want to expose everyone in the household to an unnecessary chemical. The only reason for a slightly lower rating is because of the scent. The collar comes extra long, a one-size-fits-all and after I trimmed off the extra piece I hid it in his bed so he would be exposed to it. After a bath, I took off the collar for two days because of the strong smell; however he is exposed to the excess piece in his bed at night. I will have to say that after a few days, his mood did change and he became more like his old self, playful engaging etc. Before he was a mopey, depressed dog that would just lay on the couch and look at us with those sad eyes. Now I at least have a resemblance of my old dog back and he’s even playing with the puppy!The collar durability is great. I have no clue how any dog could get this off if put on properly. I have a 20 week old Red Heeler Spaz with anxiety. It helped for the first few days. Definitely brought her down a notch. But I find as the days go on and the scent fades...it isn't doing anything. I would say 1 lasts 2 weeks tops. And it wasn't amazing...but did help a bit. Smell as intense foe the first few days. If you don't like lavender don't do it. It's strong!! But I like it and it did fade. She didn't mind wearing it at all. It's worth a try.My dog suffered from anxiety especially when left alone. She had the bad habit of chewing anything wood. Needless to say furniture, baseboards. After putting this collar on she is very calm. Only thing is it is very powerful smell the first few day, not a bad smell just lavenderWorks so well for my rescue pup. She has many panic disorders, and barking. She has separation anxiety and destroys the house when you leave. With this collar I no longer have to kennel her when I go to work. As she no longer wrecks the house. She stopped having panic attacks. She stopped barking at everyone. She has so much more confidence. Great productThe package it came in wasn't a box but a small plastic bag. Wasn't expecting that. The product itself smells delightful. Sadly we've been using it for 3-4 days and no difference in behavior.Its not worth almost $20 for no benefits.No box! No picture! No instructions!There is 2 printed labels. One covered the other! Not sure what I received! But it wasn’t in a sealed box like pictured on line!!! It will be going straight into the garbage! Sketchy!What a waste of money! :(
